Maternity Style (pt 2)

In Part 1 of My Maternity Style blog, I shared some of my tips and tricks for staying stylish while pregnant.  Today, I am sharing more of what worked for me while expecting.  As well, I am giving one of our lucky readers a chance to win a gift card for new maternity clothes of their own!

Although it may seem safer and easier to stick to dark colours, such as black, while you are growing a baby, don't be afraid to incorporate some colour into your wardrobe!  Now that spring has sprung (these pictures may beg to differ), I have enjoyed adding pops of mint and blush pink into my rotation.  Since doing so, I've noticed an increase in the compliments I receive on my outfits.  People love seeing colour!

The same goes for pattern.  Traditionally, expectant mothers may have been discouraged from wearing large or loud prints such as stripes or polka dots; however, in today's world, patterns can and should be rocked on the bump.  As far as rules go, I say there aren't any! If you like it, wear it.  I tend to go for floral patterns, such as this Mint Green Floral Chiffon Maternity Dress from PinkBlush Maternity.  The color and pattern just scream spring time to me! Expecting a spring baby, this dress has me eagerly anticipating the arrival of my babe.

As far as silhouettes go, I have enjoyed wearing both fitted and loose, flowy styles.  Don't restrict yourself to only loose or baggy maternity clothes.  Some days I am feeling a stretchy, form fitting getup, while others I am more comfortable in something with a little more room.  This dress is flattering, with a traditional empire waist to show off the belly, without being too constricting.  The best of both worlds.
