Gift Guide for Babes
After I published my last gift guide, I asked my Instagram followers what gift guide they wanted to see next and the overwhelming response was- gifts for babies! I get it, it can be hard to come up with ideas for those under 2 years because usually they have everything they need and just prefer to empty out every cupboard and drawer instead (please tell me I’m not the only one). So here are my top recommendations for gifts for your littlest loves. These 9 items are all things we already have and love, or that are on Luca’s list this year!
KYTE BABY SLEEP BAG
When it comes to pretty much anything that touches my sensitive soul’s skin, I am super picky because he has severe allergies and eczema. I researched sleep sacks and decided on the Kyte Baby one because it’s made from bamboo, is super soft, and I love the colour palette too. If you’re in Saskatoon, pick yours up at Cravings, that’s where I purchased ours and they have a good selection. Right now we only have one sleep sack, which makes it tricky when it gets dirty and is in the wash. So a second sleep sack is at the top of Luca’s wish list (whether he knows it or not ;)
B. KIDS CENTURY MODERN TABLE & CHAIR SET
We lucked out and found a very similar table and chair set to this at Homesense, but this one is just as cute and a very reasonable price. Bella loves using the table for crafts, colouring, and snack time. It works great as a kid’s dining table when we have company for dinner as well. I love the mid-century modern feel.
SKIP HOP FARMSTAND ROCK-A-MOLE GUITAR
Luca received this musical guitar as a gift for his first birthday and it’s a hit! I love anything that is an avocado and I’m all about a good pun so when I heard it was called rock-a-mole (guacamole) I loved it even more. It plays fun music that any baby 0-18 months will enjoy guacing out to.
CHILLAFISH BALANCE BIKE
We purchased a similar balance bike for Luca for Christmas, but the website is currently sold out (cocovillage.com), so I found this one which is equally as fun and stylish looking. I opted for a 2-in-1 style so it can convert from a tricycle style (3 wheels) into 2 wheels as he grows. I feel like that will give us the most bang for our buck. We will use the bike inside for the winter and then bring it outside come summer time.
HARDPRESSED PEACE SINCE ‘05 TEE
I love shopping local and Hardpressed in Saskatoon is one of my fav local brands. We stopped by last week to do some Christmas shopping and this little number caught my eye. I love the new graphic and the colour is perfect for boys and girls. If you have someone on your list with a SK connection, snatch this tee up- they are going quick!
DESIGN LETTERS KID’S MELAMINE TABLEWARE SET
This tableware set is a timeless keepsake gift, which I also love as a baby shower gift. You can purchase as a set or buy the pieces individually. They tableware is also available in both letters and numbers. I love this mint colour, as well as the blush and the classic white.
FISHER-PRICE DIY TOOL BELT
My friend spotted this adorable tool set at Winners and texted me because she knew it had Luca’s name written all over it. It is just so much cuter than most of the tool set toys I’ve seen. I would also love to find him a tool bench eventually. I can’t wait for him to receive it on Christmas morning and get playing with it. Maybe he can help his dad finish a few of the projects around the house ;)
NANCY TILLMAN YOU ARE LOVED COLLECTION
This series is truly my favourite to read to both my kids. All of the books just express the love we have for our children so well. Nancy Tillman’s books often make me tear up when I read them, but I’m kind of a baby like that. Another great gift idea for kids of any age. If you don’t have all of these books already, you need to buy them! One book that is on our wish list this year is Giraffes Can’t Dance. I was recently recommended this book that tells a rhyming tale, inspiring kids to do whatever they set their mind to. And I’m all about that :)
GUND FLAPPY THE ELEPHANT
Luca was actually gifted this singing elephant last Christmas by his Auntie, and it still makes him laugh every time. It sings ‘do your ears hang low?” while it’s ears flap, which also has me laughing. A super cute gift idea for newborn to 18 months. Flappy has won several toy awards and is a best selling item.
I hope my gift guide gave you some inspiration for the littlest littles on your list. I also recommend gifting experiences like tickets to the upcoming Paw Patrol show or passes for an indoor playground like Flynn’s Forest, The Backyard, or DJ’s Adventureland. And remember the rule when shopping for others, one from them, one for you ;)
