Perfectly Polished
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I like to treat myself when it comes to taking care of my skin. I don’t skimp on skincare or facials because I don’t think you can put a price on the health and vitality of your complexion. You’re going to be wearing it every day for the rest of your life, after all.
I’ve always enjoyed checking out new places and new skincare services. It seems there are constantly fresh ways to treat the skin and technologies being introduced. Some fads come and go but others are here to stay. Although I like to explore what is out there, time and time again I always come back to getting the 5-Star Facial by my girl Jessica at Polished Beauty Spa.
You may remember me singing her praises in the past, awarding her the Best Facial in Saskatoon title in my blog post over at Our Collective Muse. Since then, I’ve been back many times- sometimes to pick up skincare products, other times for a skin treatment, and once in a while, just to visit Jess.
However, my most recent visit this summer was extra special because it was my first time experiencing Polished’s new location. A little back story- Polished Beauty Spa’s previous location was in the Drinkle Mall on 3rd Avenue in downtown Saskatoon. It was a cute and quaint space that Jessica made her own. Flash forward to September 2018 when a devastating pipe burst caused water damage which resulted in the entire spa shutting down. The damages were heartbreaking and the business had to be closed for several months.
Jessica was able to turn lemons into lemonade, as she always does, and reopened Polished Beauty Spa in a space that was more beautiful than ever. In late November 2018, the new storefront’s doors were opened in the Avenue Building at 212 3rd Ave South in downtown Saskatoon. Perfecting and soundproofing the treatment room took a bit longer and Jessica finally felt comfortable welcoming back her guests for her sought-after services in January 2019.
Although not all may agree, I viewed the water disaster as a blessing in disguise, as it eventually led to an upgraded space and storefront, which are so well suited to Jessica and the business she has built. The entire space is gorgeous. Each detail from floor to ceiling was well thought out and encompasses the Polished brand. The space is full of natural light, white marble, and clean lines. It screams luxury and pampering.
And of course, Jessica hasn’t lost her touch. In fact, she has even incorporated some new, cutting-edge techniques into her services. As I’ve said before, a facial by Jessica is unlike any other facial available. It is a mediation session, full body massage, facial, awakening, and more. Her facials cannot be fully described in words. I just can’t do them justice! Instead, you MUST go experience one for yourself. I promise, you won’t be sorry you did!
Although I tend to like to be in control, I totally let go and trust Jessica. I allow her to choose the facial type and products, as I know I am in the best hands. She always provides an in-depth consultation to get a full understanding of your skin, your concerns, and your desired outcomes. You can tell that Jess is listening and fully engaged with her guests. She then takes the information shared and uses her vast skincare knowledge to select the ideal products to meet each client’s individual skincare needs.
I was thrilled with her selections. Jessica customized my facial using the Award Winning Eminence Organic Skincare line, and we elevated my facial with a luxurious Knesko GemClinical Nanogold Masque Treatment. Combining the glamour and healing power of gemstones and minerals, this natural collagen mask left my skin radiant and revitalized.
One of my personal favourite aspects of Jessica’s treatments is how she explains each step while she is doing it. She shares the product being applied, the reason for it, and what it achieves. I have received other facials in the past and am left thinking “I wonder what they are doing now?” or I keep asking the aesthetician what they are doing and feel as though I am annoying them. Jessica eliminates all of the uncomfortable vibes and educates her guests.
As my facial came to an end, my body, mind, spirit, and skin were left feeling rejuvenated, awakened, and refreshed. My face looked bright, plump and glowing. Not only was my outward appearance improved, Jessica made me feel beautiful and pampered inside as well. It was exactly what I needed and I already can’t wait for my next appointment with Jessica.
